Serenity In Ubud

After the hustle and bustle of the beach in Kuta, it was nice to finally arrive in Ubud. Although the streets are just as dirty and polluted with mopeds and flea markets as Kuta, our hotel is a serene sanctuary of vegetation, bird songs, and the occasional rooster howl (no, not just in the morning—all day long).

Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived, so we took a load off by the pool. After we got settled in our room, we decided to take a walk into town. More markets and street-side solicitations for “tacksi.” The next guy who holds up a TAXI sign and asks me if I want a ride, I’ll shoot–with my camera.
