Sitting in the gate, waiting for boarding on our super jumbo Airbus A380. Well, that’s it for any more posts while traveling (unless I feel like checking in in Frankfurt). Thanks to Changi airport for the free wifi while passing the time.
We’ll add more posts/recap thoughts/reviews once we’re home and rested.
It’s been quite a trip.
This is it! Only a hundred baht left in our wallet and 2 boarding passes bound for JFK! Looking forward to being home; but wouldn’t trade the past two weeks for anything. Thanks, Asia.
It is difficult to capture how beautiful Koh Phi Phi really is. Nevertheless, I tried. Here are some shots:
Back at the airport, waiting for our flight to Bangkok. Ko Phi Phi was a lot of fun and beautiful too. I’m tired from being in the sun and don’t feel like writing a lot, so ciao for now.
Wow! Phi Phi is awesome. Truly a beach island getaway. Green/blue water, white sandy beaches, no car traffic. Our hotel is the perfect location–just a 5 minute walk from the port, perfectly positioned between two coves. The pool is huge, and right next to one of the bays. We went in right when we got there.
Then we got massages in the poolside massage cabana. These weren’t just any neck and back massages; these were Thai neck and massages, which is like a massage, yoga session and chiropractor visit all in one. They stretched you, walked on you, cracked you and rubbed you down. For an hour it cost 15 bucks per person. We’ll be back there again.
Now we’re eating a delightful breakfast while staring at blue-green water. Enough writing! To the beach!
Time spent in KL was short but fun. Mackenzie, Jana and Taylor showed us around Chinatown and Central Market. We had a great lunch of various chicken salads at the Peter Hoe shop (lots of great items for decorating and furnishing a home plus a cafe). We did not get sick from the fresh veggies (whew, because we are craving fresh, raw food!).
We then went to G Tower. We wanted to go to the Bridge Bar, but I wasn’t wearing pants. They had a no shorts rule. Sorry girls. So then we went up to the rooftop bar. But they weren’t serving until 5pm. It was around 4. Instead of sitting there, we went back down to the lobby and enjoyed a few beers during their happy hours.
Funny aside: while waiting for the elevator, I saw this sign.
I started to sing that phrase to the tune of La Bamba. We had a laugh.
We ended up back at the rooftop bar (pic to come later). I finally had a Singapore Slider, the official drink of Singapore. It was ok. I like margaritas and beer better.
Dinner was at a great Indian restaurant. We ate off of palm leaves (it’s a plate and placemat all in one)! No pics from there :(, sorry.
The night was capped with a game of darts against Mackenzie and Taylor. They won, but only by a couple last minute bulls eyes. Good game, ladies.
And now we’re off to Thailand!

Haven’t had much to write about lately. Uploaded these photos while in KL (an hour before we had to leave for the airport). Next stop is the island Ko Phi Phi off of Thialand. No cars, no planes, no motorbikes. Just boats. And feet. Serenity now.
Only in Bali can you:
walk in and get a massage at sundown in a little “storefront”
While motorcycles and cars speed by
While cocks crow
While your “therapist” (who has really good hands) fields a call on her cell phone while your face is down in the table
And then proceeds to text message while gently working your neck.
Only in Bali do you get a pedicure in a regular chair while the esthetician sits on the floor
And uses a hair dryer to dry your nails
And has to turn off the 13 inch tube TV before using it because the fuse will blow.
Only in Bali do you get this one of a kind ambiance and unforgettable life experience.
